Welcome Back Letter 2021

Welcome Back, Atoms to an exciting 2021 - 2022 school year.

Wednesday, September 8th, 2021-Dear SANY Families,

Welcome to another exciting school year at Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship Charter School! It’s hard to believe that it is already the first week of school. It seems like yesterday, I was seeing pictures and watching the news featuring all your hard work helping those in need in the greater Syracuse community. From the Band-Aid Drive to the Diaper Drive, all your efforts certainly did not go unnoticed. For all the new and returning families, I would like to take this time to say welcome to the Science Academies of New York (SANY) Charter Schools!

It's an incredible privilege to be a part of a community where students, parents, teachers, faculty, and staff care so much for one another and strive to build positive relationships that support academic success, while encouraging students to become good stewards in the community all while helping strengthen and develop character strengths and traits that will help students be successful beyond the classroom walls.

This past year has presented all of us with unimaginable challenges and obstacles, but in the same breath, it has brought an incredible opportunity for change. Words cannot describe how proud I am of our students, teachers, parents, faculty, staff and community who overcame herculean obstacles and did an amazing job keeping each other safe and ending the school year strong with many successes.

The first week of school is always a favorite time of mine as it's a fresh start for all of us. It’s a time of year where we build upon what we have learned in year’s past, and begin the climb in our journey to reach our goals for this upcoming year. There is nothing we can’t achieve when we work together. While we may not know what this school year will bring, one thing will always remain certain. We are many Atoms, one family … and we can accomplish anything.

Let’s do this!

Regards,

Dr. Tolga Hayali, Ed.D
Superintendent

Tuesday, August 17th, 2021—Dear Science Academies of New York Staff, Parents and Guardians,

I hope you are enjoying your summer and have found time to relax and rejuvenate.

As we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year, this message will be the first of many that are intended to keep everyone informed about the first day of school on September 8th, 2021.

We are excited to announce that SANY students will be returning to school in the fall for in-person instruction five days a week for the 2021-2022 school year. As per the CDC’s instruction, we are waiting for official guidance from our local Department of Health. That being said, we are anticipating that masks will be worn at school indoors, regardless if you have been fully vaccinated. It’s imperative for our Atoms’ academic success, as well as, their social and emotional well-being that students attend regular in-person instruction.

We want to thank you for your continued support and patience throughout last year, as well as this upcoming school year. I will continue to update you as we make final preparations for the upcoming school year. We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.
