Friday, September 27, 2019—The first month of school is already in the books and it's hard to believe we are celebrating our first Student of the Month Ceremony. Friday, September 20, 2019—It's not every day that you have a royal visit from Miss Spirit of New York, Kimberly Geniece, who shared with the Atoms her talents of singing (including Opera) and acting during story time. Kimberly brings the story, The Book with No Pictures by B.J. Novak, to life through her creativity, vocal range and expressions. The Atoms in turn felt like royalty. No story time is ever complete without a special singing performance or should we say mini opera performance. Kimberly shared with the students one of her favorite Italian opera songs. Thursday, September 12, 2019—Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship school invited families to attend their Back to School Night. As the doors opened, families met with their student's teacher, learned about the school's mission, its curriculum, charter education and ways we can work together to ensure our Atoms are on track for success.
Monday, September 16, 2019—In preparation for the first "official" week of fall, kindergarten and first grade Atoms visited apple country, on a field trip to Navarino Orchard. Atoms had the luxury of not only picking apples, but they learned fun facts about this third generation orchard and farm. In addition to picking a handful of nice and juicy apples, they also devoured delicious cider donuts and apple bread that were baked to perfection. A perfect way to start off the school year. Monday, June 24, 2019—The Citizenship Academy Family celebrated a year of success with our Kindergarten Graduation, or Moving Up Ceremony. Friday, June 21, 2019—Atoms get an up close look, hands-on experience with exotic and domestic animals from all around the world during a field trip to Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo. Students cuddle with the ever popular African Pygmy Goats in their Petting Zoo area, fed some super social Fallow Deer, watched a Peacock show its beautiful tail feathers with blue and gold hues, and they even touched (and some held) a slithering snake! Following the animal adventure, Atoms let their wild side out at the Wild Creatures Playland, crawled through a ginormous ball crawl and bounced on a giant Jumbo Jumper Pillow Bounce.
Wednesday, June 26, 2019—Dean of Elementary, Dominic Frisina shares the success of Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship Charter School has experienced through The Positivity Project program. Through this program, the school has built a culture that emphasizes mutual respect and understanding. Every Friday, the school comes together and recognizes students acts of character and strength. Its through this program we are able to speak one common language around character strength, and that is what has united us as a team, community and building. Friday, June 14, 2019—What do donuts and dads have in common? Each type of donut (like dad) is uniquely different, they can be sweet, and are filled with love. Atoms share delicious donuts with dads, grandfathers, uncles and other male role models in their lives at our annual Donuts for Dad event. Thank you, for all that you do and for being a positive role model in our Atom's lives.
Monday, June 24, 2019—Atoms invite you to come and 'feel the magic in the air' with their end of year music video. A time-honored tradition, our elementary school students, teachers and staff not only from Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship, but Utica Academy of Science, and Syracuse Academy of Science Charter Schools partook in the event, as well. Wednesday, June 19, 2019—It is a great day to be an Atom, especially when you receive a surprise visit from Onondaga County Executive, Ryan McMahon. Atoms learned about the importance of being a county executive, along with the various job responsibilities. What's more, Mr. McMahon read a short story to the students. Thank you, Mr. McMahon for taking time out of your schedule to visit and speak with the Atoms.
Thursday, June 13, 2019—Lights, camera, Atoms! From singing to dancing and everything in between these young Atoms certainly do have talent. With a full house, students dazzle their family and friends with their performance. The audience was left cheering and ultimately amazed. Great job Atoms, looking forward to seeing your many talents next year!
