Friday, July 23rd, 2021—At Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school, learning is always in session. As these young Atoms try to beat the heat during these summer months, the students take this moment to brush up on their already impressive math and reading comprehension skills. Way to go Atoms, we are so proud of you!
Sunday, July 4th, 2021—From our family to yours, we wish all of our Atoms a very happy, healthy and safe Independence Day! Below are some fun facts about the 4th of July.
Thursday, June 24th, 2021—It's time to celebrate, Atoms because school's out for summer! But before we get ready to celebrate, let's take a quick peak down memory lane of all the fun we had this past week during our last Spirit Days of the school year. For this last week, Atoms had an opportunity to:

Wednesday, June 16th, 2021—Hats off to the future class of 2033! Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school celebrated a very important milestone in any student's academic career, their FIRST graduation ceremony, and most certainly not their last.
On June 16th, without a cloud in the sky, these bright young students and their families, teachers, faculty and staff watched their Atom walk across the stage to receive their Kindergarten diplomas. As Atoms prepared to move their tassels this important academic milestone marks the next step in their academic journey. Words cannot express how excited we are for the students and their families. This year will most certainly go down in the history books, and we look forward to what tomorrow will bring. We invite you to click here to visit our Facebook page, and to view our album, Class of 2033 Kindergarten Graduation to see additional pictures from this historic event. Congratulations, Atoms, a job most certainly well done!
Tuesday, June 15th, 2021—Dare we say that things got a little ‘slimy’ at Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school when the Atoms were left with glue, baking soda and a little saline solution to create their very own slime. For their hands-on, minds-on science experiment, students were tasked with using each of those ingredients to make the perfect slime that had great texture, elasticity, was flexible and of course looked cool - just like the Atoms! Fun, laughter and excitement were had by all with this classic DIY science experiment.

Monday, June 14th, 2021—Our house, in the middle of street! Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship 5th grade Atoms in Mr. Giangiobbe's class put on their construction hats, grabbed some blueprints, their rulers, straight edges, compasses and calculators for their hands-on, minds-on activity of designing their dream house!
From mansions, to houses, to duplexes and everything in between, these future architects used their mathematical skills of area, perimeter, and spatial graphing and built out and designed their dream home. No home is ever complete without figuring out the budget and how much you would like to spend when it comes to fixing up a home or even designing your own home. The Atoms put their financial skills to work, as well, when they were drawing and designing their homes.
This awesome STEM assignment is one the students will remember for always!

Throughout the months of April and May, Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school students, faculty, staff and community members recently collected over 3,700 diapers to benefit the families at CNY Diaper Bank. The diapers were donated to CNY Diaper Bank in person on Thursday, May 27th, 2021.
The generosity of the Atoms caught the attention of many news stations across Central New York. This video also includes events that led up to the delivery of the diapers such as the ‘Pie in the Face’ event, and much more! Congratulations Atoms, this is an incredible effort and monumental achievement, we are so proud of you!
Thursday, May 27th, 2021—Over the months of April and May Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school students, faculty, staff and community members collected and donated 3,773 diapers to CNY Diaper Bank on Thursday, May 27th. This incredible effort and hard work did not go unnoticed and was in fact featured on News Channel 9!
“The idea for the Diaper Drive came about after a discussion among several staff members who were looking for innovative ways to give back to the local community that our students would feel passionate about,” said Hayley Merritt, Kindergarten teacher at Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school. “Many students welcomed siblings into the world this year and were excited about helping collect diapers for babies. As a result, our first annual Diaper Drive was launched. We selected the CNY Diaper Bank because of the large scale work they do to aid the community.”
