Mayoral Proclamation for #28Speakersin28Days Speaking Tour
On Thursday, February 28, 2019, the Citizenship Academy celebrated the end of the#28SpeakersIn28Days CommUNITY Engagement Speaking Tour for #BlackHistoryMonth supported by the Citizenship Academy & Masking & Kompany. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. This event helped bring inspiring community figures to our students to help educate, engage, and empower our students.
The enthusiasm in the culminating ceremony was palpable as City of Syracuse - Office of the Mayor, Mayor Walsh, and Deputy Mayor Owens honored the Citizenship Academy with a mayoral proclamation recognizing the month of February 2019 as the Speaking Truth Tour Month in the City of Syracuse. Although she could not be present at the ceremony, Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter - 128th District also recognized the Citizenship Academy with a citation for the exemplary service given to the community of Central New York.
We are grateful for each and every speaker that spent time with our students along with our incredible staff. Together we are building success one ATOM at a time.
