Atoms Test Laws of Physics with Egg Drop Challenge

Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school’s 5th-grade PBL students participated in the STEM activity, the Egg Drop Challenge.

Thursday, June 16th, 2022Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school's 5th grade Project Based Learning students tested the laws of physics with an engineering activity, the Egg Drop Challenge. For this STEM activity, Atoms worked together to plan, build and execute an 'eggshell protection system' that would allow their eggs to withstand a fall from a great height.

Thanks to the help of Mr. McGriff, the official 'egg launcher' who went up onto the roof of Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school to drop the eggs for the Atoms. All 5th-grade students were present for the egg launch to observe their experiment and cheer for the four teams.

We are excited that all four teams had successful experiments, and none of the eggs broke during the drop/launch. Congratulations, Atoms!
