Saturday, November 9th, 2024: A group of enthusiastic Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse Middle School scholars participated in the annual Bridges Challenge at the Museum of Science and Technology (MOST). This event brought together students from various schools across CNY to test their engineering skills by designing and constructing balsa wood bridges. The challenge focused not only on building strength but also on creating structures that could support weight efficiently.
The CSAS Atoms demonstrated their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, learning valuable bridge design and construction lessons. Throughout the competition, students received constructive feedback that will help them refine their skills for future engineering projects.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, bonding with their teammates as they worked together to perfect their bridges. The competition provided a unique opportunity for the scholars to engage in hands-on STEM learning while fostering camaraderie and a sense of accomplishment. This event was more than just a competition; it was a chance for our students to grow and build essential skills for the future. The dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm our Atoms showed embody the spirit of innovation and learning.
A special thanks to the teachers and staff who supported the students throughout the preparation and competition process. Let’s continue building bridges to success in STEM and beyond!
