CSAS ES Adopts a Calf

Thursday, October 23rd, 2025: We’re thrilled to welcome the newest (and cutest!) member of the Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse family — Ivy the Calf!

Born on September 3, 2025, the same day our students returned to school, Ivy already shares a special connection with our school community. Ivy is part of the Discover Dairy Adopt-a-Cow program and will live at Fouts Farm, LLC in Cortland. Ivy will help our students learn about agriculture, animal care, and life beyond the city through regular photos, stories, and classroom tie-ins.

Why Ivy matters

• Hands-on learning: Students will be exposed to farm life and agricultural science.

• Cross-curricular connections: Classroom lessons that will link literacy, STEM, social studies, and art to Ivy’s growth and care.

• Community partnership: Our relationship with Fouts Farm supports experiential learning and strengthens our connection to local agriculture.
